About

This is the sixth amateur meeting of the summer at Scunthorpe Speedway. Riders can enter as many or as few Summer Championship meetings as they want but to qualify for championship trophies riders must have competed in at least 50% of the completed rounds whilst those who compete in every round can drop their lowest scoring round (so it allows riders to miss a round without penalty).

There will be five adult speedway classes (Open, Support and Novice based on ability plus a class for upright engines and one for speedway bikes with no more than a 160cc engine).

In addition there will be three youth speedway classes (500cc, 250cc and one that has 125cc and 150cc engines).

However, the biggest classes are likely to be some of the non-speedway classes with Flat Track and Adult Pit Bikes (4 strokes, air cooled to a max of 160cc) being very popular whilst Inappropriate Bikes, Junior 110cc and Quads have been increasing popular over the last couple of years.

With so many classes we will split them into two halves but the split will be decided and advised closer to the date.

No membership is required and entry is £40 for all adult classes and £30 for the youth classes. Payment is on the day but bookings must be made with me (Richard Hollingsworth). Best way is to text 07832-402167 or post/send me messages on here. I usually take bookings (and be equally happy to take cancellations) until the evening before but once again please look out for deadlines nearer the time. However, early bookings do help encourage others to enter and are really appreciated. PLEASE NOTE SIMPLY ADDING YOURSELF TO THE ATTENDEES LIST IS NOT ENOUGH. Please also ensure I reply to say the booking has been made (and it's always worth ensuring your name is on the latest entry list because with so many messages I do occasionally forget).

Spectating at the meeting is free and we will have a food van present. However, if you are coming then we are ALWAYS in need of help and for those that do help then the food and drink is free. Many hands really do make light work and allow us to run the meetings more efficiently (that means we can go home earlier). Please contact me if you want to discuss how you may be able to help. The main jobs to be filled are the flag marshals but there are other jobs that need filling.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The meeting will programme at least six rides for everyone and for those classes that require finals there will be at least one for everyone allowing those riders who have had a less than successful time to advance up the standings in the finals (i.e. The winner of the 'E' Final will advance to the 'D' Final and then the winner of the 'D' Final will advance to the 'C' Final etc. etc. However, if numbers are exceptionally high then we do reserve the right to reduce the programmed qualifying races by one to allow the meeting to be completed in a suitable time. It hasn't happened so far but if we ever reach that situation then we will assess things and consider a reorganisation to ensure we get the number of rides back up at subsequent meetings.

There are trophies for the top three in each class and there will be a paramedic in attendance. Anji's Food van will be in attendance as will Darren Miles' spares van (who can be contacted direct on 07563-500409).

Riders do not need 'new' regulation silencers, mudguards etc. and can ride on day licenses (with no additional charge).

Riders can ride in as many or as few meetings as they like but Winter Series points are scored in the following manner: 30 points for 1st, 29 for 2nd etc down to 1 point for 30th (although that would be increased for all rounds if we had more than 30 riders for a class on one day). With six rounds scheduled it will be the best five that will count for riders because it allows a rider to miss a round. If only four rounds are completed then a riders top three rounds will count etc. etc. For Summer Championship trophies riders must compete in at least half the completed meetings.

Helmet colours (either old colours or new colours) are required in the speedway classes but can be borrowed (please give advance notice if possible) whilst dirt deflectors are required in the Open, Support, Youth 500 and Youth 250 classes. If anyone has any questions then please just let me know.

All amateur speedway events (meetings, practices and training schools) are listed on the club's track calendar here http://scunthorpescorpions.co/?page_id=73 but the six Summer rounds are:
Sunday 15th April
Sunday 20th May
